I bought two hoses for the Discovery, the ones that connect the engine block to the heater, they look identical, don't they.
They are consecutive part numbers LRBTR9616 and 9617

9616 £5.05 plus VAT
9617 £10.10 plus VAT

i asked the dealer..."Dont know mate, thats what the computer says !"

Phoned Land-rover customer services, recorded voice " We are sorry but due to the inclement weather our staff have been unable to attend work today, please try when the weather returns to normal"

This IS bloody normal for this time of the year, obviously they don't drive their own product.

aye they look the same but different..dosen't the top one have an upward bend at the right hand end? or are they just lying slighty differently?

the price asked for spares/parts is partly decided by demand. so maybe 1 part number doesnt fail as often as tother?

Mmmmm, I suppose I am being cynical but i think its more a case of they know you are unlikely to replace one and not the other.
Strangely its the shorter one (by 1") that is more expensive, but its also the one that gets worn by the engine soundproofing cover rubbing on it.

That sounds about right.

They pull a number from thin air, double it and add VAT and thats the price, how they can get near identical pipes with different prices is beyond me but they do!!
