Hi folks. Im trying to save money by changing cluth on my freelander TD4 sport, i am fairly handy around cars. My problem is, i own a freelander! And i seem to have come to a halt re the IRD unit. Question; does it need to be removed 1st and then the gearbox?, or will both need to be dropped(working from underneath) at same time?? If its coming out 1st, then can someone explain how u get the 2 upper bolts out, or rather, how u reach them!!! Some help on this would save my head exploding today. Thnx, Mick

The IRD bolts are a challenge without a hoist or pit. A mirror, long extension and air rachet are needed ;)

Got the mirror, bought the ratchet, and long ext`bars. managed the upper `rear` IRD bolt out, but cant get neeeeeaaaarr the forward one!. Are there any tips on this. can i dropped the whole lot, or lower something...anything just to reach that damn bolt!. All the rest of the clutch change looks comparitively easy, just that one bolt im struggling to get on to.
Heyelp!!
