Hey guys, I have a 2004 vogue with the touchscreen sat nav unit that has Bluetooth. I also have the Nokia cradle in the centre console.

I was just wondering is there anyway of connecting my iPhone to the unit instead so I can use the iPod instead of CDs?

So your stereo has been upgraded as the 2004 ones weren't touch screen

Yours should support an iPod input

They do an OEM lead for that purpose I think

Yh I think it has been upgraded because it is the same stereo as my brothers 06 RR. Where does the lead plug in? Does it go into the back of the stereo or somewhere else?

You carnt fit the touch screen system into the standard system as far as I'm aware, iv looked into it.

You can add it to a HSE, but not the vogue as the Wiring system and bus system wont support it. It was fitted to the 2004 facelift I think tho, so must have been fitted as standard

looking into it now it seems the ipod lead (if you have a connection) should be inside the center glove box.

but i doubt you will have this as your car is only a 2004 and i think they have just changed the stereo and not all the rest of the gubbins.

does it not play music through the Bluetooth connection ?

Fair eunf, but it will be factory spec then, as the touch screen uses a fiber optic system, and the non touch screen is Standard wiring :)

2004 didnt have a facelift untill 2005 / 06 i think.

you can fit aftermarket units to the HSE's as i fitted one to mine. and that has everything, TV, DVD, SD, USB, bluetooth hands free, ipod connection etc...

as you stated though i dont think you can fit them to the vogues.

although you might be able to fit the newer genuine head unit to pre facelift models ??

sounds like its had a pretty major upgrade then if the touch screen uses optics ?

i thought the old unit also used fiber to transmit - IE DSP audio ?

I'm not 100% sure mate, n I could very well be wrong, just when I looked into doing mine, I came to the conclusion after searching and asking on many forums that it wasn't do-able:confused:

It has the genuine land rover touch screen head unit but no iPod input in the centre console. It only has a Nokia cradle in there.

The head unit only has cd, radio and tv which doesn't work due to the switch over (another issue to be dealt with)

To be honest I have tried playing the music through the Bluetooth but wouldn't imagine the quality would be much good if it did. Would rather try and hard wire it into the unit.

not sure what else i can help with then mate.

regarding the bluetooth audio, with my bluetooth audio streaming you cant tell the difference between hard wired on bluetooth.

as its a digital connection the quality on bluetooth should be fine. :)

It can be done.
If you fit a DVD player that has an aux input connection.
Then you just plug the iPod into the DVD player and run it via that.
I had source sounds in Sheffield do it for me.
They also fitted tv on the go and DVD tuner. Cost 900 quid for the lot.
Tuner
DVD player
Tv on the go
Not bad
