Internal Roll Cage - How to mount it?

I put this on another forum the other day but unfortunately didn't have much success.

Now that the rebuild is almost done, I've got a 6 point internal roll cage that I would like to fit to the 90. The mounts for the main hoop and diagonals aren't an issue but I can't figure out how to mount the front hoop to the chassis.

The standard saddle on the bulkhead outrigger (like external cages use) won't work because the cage downtubes are behind the bulkhead rather than in front.

To make matters more difficult, I would like it to meet MSA specs but there don't seem to be any instructions about mounting an internal front hoop in their blue book.

Does anyone have any suggestions or better still some pictures?

It's a soft top so I don't need to protect a metal roof from trees.

I don't want to fit a full external because it uses a lot more tube (more weight/increased CoG) to meet MSA specs and still loses the same amount of space in the rear due to the requirement for diagonals.

Also the internal will allow me to fit the 90 into the garage by folding the windscreen down. :)

Hi Boris,

I am liking the idea of an internal roll cage, Please Please Please ( is that enuff crawling , LOL ) post some pics as you do it. also got a full soft top, I just want to keep the outside looking the same as I like the look of it.

Where did you get the roll cage?

Cheers

Neil

Make up a couple of out riggers out of some thick walled box section. Box off the end (cut plate to fit and weld in) and weld a load spreader plate to the other end to weld to the chassis.

Good plan, I was thinking something along those lines but can't find any guidlines in the blue book that would work. Theres loads of info on the net for external cages but very little for internal ones. :(

No problem Neil, it won't be until christmas that I actually start to fit it as the landy is in Leicestershire, the cage is in Gloucestershire and I'm in Africa :D

It originally came from North Off Road I think but i bought it secondhand.

It's going to be quite tricky given the cutting required to the sides of the dash and potential conflict with the fuel tank and guard...

To throw a curve ball in the mix, the chassis is a shiny glav jobby so a bolt-on solution would be ideal but thats not looking likely :(

how low is your garage??

The roof is pretty good but it has an up and over type door and stupid framework in the ceiling which limits it.
