Welcome to LZ!

I never knew those even had door switches. I don't think my wife's did, or at least, if it did, they never worked.

I should think the simplest thing is just to use the switch on the light.

Switch on the light in the wrong position?
I thought mine had stopped working which, indeed they had, forgot I switched them off!
They now come on when I press the button to turn off the alarm, as they should I presume.

i have tries the switch on the light in all three positions and only comes on in one of the three positions (always on)

when you say the button to turn off the alarm do you mean the remote fob?

Sorry, yes that is what I meant
Press remote, lights come on, unlock Landy with key, go through endless security, stick key in ignition, turn key, lights go off, drive away.

Hi, it's not a setting as it's by default so unplug the lamp and measure voltage across the purple(+) and purple/white(-) wires when you open a door, if you get voltage the problem is with the switch which doesnt close to the second contact which completes the automatic circuit(middle position)

I edited the relevant part of the diagram, the switch closes to earth on manual mode and on automatic must close the contact as in the pic for the light to come on... if no voltage when the lamp is supposed to be on autamatically we'll speak again

have checked the voltage of the bulb remains the same weather the is door open or closed but the light doesnt come one even thought voltage is the same as when the light is on with the switch to perminant earth, am going to borrow a light from another defender with a switch that is known to be working in the next couple of days see if that fixes the issue

Hi, I have a similar issue; the interior light switch only works when “on” or middle position, but doesn't go off. The door switches don’t seem to do anything. The alarm also beeps x2 when locking and so I’ve checked all the door switches and bonnet switch just in case, but the interior light just stays on until the 8 mins has elapsed.
Not sure if this is an alarm thing or something simple, like a door switch operating, but they seem to be working as I’ve held them closed for the 15secs +…
Anyone any ideas?
Eric

Hi, based on that
The alarm also beeps x2 when locking
which means that the input to the ECU is that a door or bonnet is opened and the interior lights are working on that mode only so if you are 100% certain that all the switches are OK there is a short to earth somewhere on that circuit

Update: Fault found to be n/s rear door light switch damaged wiring. This was revealed on removing the door light switch and pulling the wiring through, only to find it faulty. Re made the circuit and checked out ok. Also had to reprogram the alarm system as it had gotten into a fault loop…( re programming done by LR specialist with appropriate diagnostics).
