Hi all
As some of you know I only recently laid hands on my 110, got a couple questions about it.
Firstly, it's got a 200 tdi conversion in it - one from a Disco. It being fitted with big Insa Turbo Sahara mud patterns and a 2" lift, what sort of top speed should I be getting? I got it up to about 80 on a flat, still speeding up slightly. Thought it might do a bit more than that though.

Also, I've been having a poke round in the engine bay, checked the air filter which was pretty dirty so I cleaned that out tonight. One thing I noticed was that the intercooler is partially (35% or so) blocked with dry old mud caked in that looks really tricky to get out. Could this be reducing power at all? What's the best way to clean it? Also the rad has a fair bit of mud caked at the bottom few inches.

Thanks a lot
Sam :)

A blocked intercooler wont be cooling as well so yes it will affect performance. The cooler the air going into the engine the better.
To clean the intercooler and radiator matrix I'd try gently washing the mud out with a hose (dont use a pressure washer as it will be too harsh). You may have to take them off the vehicle and soak overnight in a water butt to soften the mud before hosing.

Defo give that IC a clean out :) , you can use a pressure washer on em ( not too close mind ) as the fins are thicker than the radiators ones .

just use a wide fan on the pressure washer and keep it at 90 degrees to the IC [---- all the time till you can see light through it ( unless your doing it at night lol ) .

lol, so I take it it needs to be removed before I can shoot it with the pressure washer then?

Cleaned it all out today, was pouring out muddy water from underneath so must have been a lot in there. It does feel like it's got a lot more go now! Well worth doing... :D

Also another question... didn't want to start another thread.
The 200 tdi conversion is running fantastically atm, but there's one problem which is the thermostat reading much too high. I know for a fact that the engine doesn't overheat or anything, it's spot-on but the thermostat seems to be giving a false reading somehow. When it's been driving a few minutes the temp gauge reads right at the top needle but the engine is still cool enough for you to comfortably hold the rad hoses and top of the engine etc, really not that hot at all. It doesn't use any water or oil and is very powerful and sounds great.

Thanks all
