Has anyone had any dealings with a specialist 4x4 insurance company called Sureterm Direct and if so how were they? Ive insured the f.l with them as they were by far the cheapest but after nearly a month I havnt even had a cover note but when i check on Mid the f.l comes up as insured and when i ring them they say the system is having a prob forming the policy and theyve put a notice on it to extend the time i need to get the paperwork back to them. Just seems strange to me but I pay monthly and they havnt even got my bank details for the direct debit. Just wondered if anyone else has had dealings with them.

Insured my fl with them as they were the cheapest by far. Found them to be fast and reliable as to when paperwork was on its way. I paid in full and had my docs two days later

I used them for 3 years, 2 with the Disco and last year for the FL. Always found them helpful and quick to sort any paperwork, change of vehicle/job/use etc
However this year found that to protect my NCB was a no option and to drive other cars not owned with owners permission thing was a very expensive upgrade. I need to have this as I use a friends car occaisionally, and to share driving next year in another friends Disco on our Scotland expedition.
Also the excess was a ridiculous £450!
Hastings Direct this year, £334 FC, protected 20 yr NCB, drive other cars, £100 excess.
Cheap = not always best.

prob ive got is i had fully protected maximum ncb but because it was on my cab they classed it as non transferable to private insurance so only have 2 years ncb now which sux big time. i was using adriun flux as my nissan 4x4 was a jap import and they were pretty good with it and then the beemer but i was still paying 750 a year f.c and they wanted an extra 150 this year to cover the f.l so that would bring it to 900 which as ive got a clean licence and have been a proffesional driver in one way or another for most of my adult life i found a bit extreme and sureterm only want 230 f.c for the year so big dif in price. i only do about 4000 miles a year and have a cap of 5000 on the f.l so really dont want to have to pay nearly a grand for the privilage of driving a few miles a year. the insurance business does seem to need some regulating as it seems like they can charge what they want as they have us over a barrel and theres nothing we can do about it.

bloody hell Taxii, My wife is the insured on our FL TD4. She's had her license 10 years now, but only has a years no claims. Mileage allowance is 10,000.

Chris knott insurance beat our renewal by 10% bringin our insurance down to £540 odd Fully Comp.

tell me about it twin cam. its getting beyond a joke. the insurance on the cab was for business and private use but even nowrich union who i had the insurance with wouldnt honour the ncb on a private vehicle. im not sure if its because i now drive on a companies insurance as well as my private one thats making the difference but cant understand why it would. ive heard some bad stuff about sureterm but as they are by far the cheapest i might just have to bite the bullet and put up with them for a year and see if anyone can get close to their price after that. just have to make sure i dont hit anything till then. lol.

use them at your peril. you obviously havent read your PM

one person's poor experience is not necesserily an indication of how they generally treat their customers.

Every complaint to the Insurance Ombudsman (after you've exhausted an insurer's complaints procedure) costs the Insurer money (around £800) irrelevent of complaint so they are always going to be more willing to sort out the problem without it going that far. If an insurer or broker was really bad, they simply wouldn't be able to make money with all those complaints rolling in.

I've had a bad experience with Swinton, but it doesn't mean I tell people not to go with them, because it was a personal experience and the way I was treated which made me mad. I just put up a review on an independent site and let people make up their own mind.

The guy asked if anyone had any dealings with sureterm. I have and it is bad experience. Im now driving around in an unroadworthy car as stated by there engineer. caused by an accident that wasnt my fault. Just because the 3rd party is denying liability, im now having to deal with theire solicitors. Sureterm wanted me to claim off my own insurance which means losing 9 years no claims and £350 excess. I sent them loads of photos of the junction where the accident happened and also a statement and a drawing of the accident. This was the 16th august. They have only this week sent said documents to the other insurance company.
