Does anyone know if the chassis engine mounts on a series 3 LWB 2.6 are located in the same place as a 4 pot. I've only had dealings with series SWB's in the past & never had anything to do with a 2.6. I would compare it with my safari 2 & quarter petrol - if I could get to it!

Don't think so. The six cylinder chassis has many differences, see if you can get a photo from Richards chassis website.

Great idea, ta! I was thinking Landrover would try & avoid extra costs by keeping the chassis the same as a standard 4 pot 109. I can't think of anything else that may have needed changing but am still curious of course,

There are pictures of the mounts on my build thread at the beginning where the chassis is being prepared. AFAIK the mounts are different from the four pot but not 100% sure without checking.
The chassis is sold as different on the Richards site and there are some differences in the various chassis mounts and the bulkhead, its not a direct swop to squeeze in a six pot

Many thanks. I'll take a look! I know little about the 2.6 & used to think it was automatically manufactured as a one ton, but years ago I remember chatting to a guy who owned a 2.6 12 seater safari. Mine (pickup) does not seem to have exceptionally heavy duty springs or rear axle so I'm guessing Landrover was quite flexible on its customers requirements. I'm still unsure what I'm going to do with it atm as it was intended as a joint rebuild project with my sister but that is now no longer happening. It would have been a good un, as her 1958 series 2 galvy chassis full rebuild is a work of art even though it never got completed & is safely dry stored awaiting final assembly.
