just put the oldest (19) on the s1 on a non classic policy for c£230 p.a. 3,000 miles pa fully comp, still in shock :D

it would have been £1,300 to put him on the wifes' 307

Landy's rock! :D & roll!

Would I be right in thinking that your lad is quite chuffed with driving round in a proper vehicle rather than some poxy front wheel drive ****e?? :D

hope so, he hasn't driven it yet, maybe tomorrow if he doesn't get too hammered tonight :D

He might hate you forever after nursing a series round for a few weeks. I know I hated my dad for it. But that's coz I got the bug and love the damned things.

I took my test on a Series 1 and learn't how to double declutch pretty soon, something that put me in good stead for HGV tests in later years. Driving a S1 will enable your son to appreciate the mechanics of the vehicle and to drive sympathetically, something you can't do with a modern day vehicle. My insurance for a S1 45 years ago was £40 fully comp, and I thought that was a rip off at the time! Good luck to your son ;)

I remember my first insurance, it was 3rd party f&T, comp being too much having bought the car, used mk3 Cortina for £100 - might have been £150 start of the 80's. Can't remember how much the insurance was though.

wish fully comp was still £40.

that's a cracking deal

my son who is 24 got a quote for my freelander td4 and got quoted 3 grand

I got it through swinton, £3k sounds a lot for a 24 year old no idea how a freelander compares to a 307 or an s1in insurance terms though. They said some insurers were changing their attitudes to younger drivers. But I would have thought he should be able to get better terms than that at 24.

got the 307 quote from the Kingston branch, s1 via their head office as the branch could only do 88 inch wheelbase and up
