Hi all. Recently my defender 90 was stolen from outside work. I insured it for £2,500 in value but they say they will only pay the market value regardless. I'm thinking surely this can't be right. So I've been looking around trying to see what I would get but would like to know what you think my 90 would be worth from my description:

It's a 1991 defender 90 200Tdi
Miles: 112,000
2" terrafirma light duty lift
Full survive history
Insa turbo Sahara tyres
Full roof lining
Clean chassis

The whole thing was original landrover parts apart from the lift kit.

When insurance company's look on the market where do they look.

I just want an idea what will happen so I'm ready for it because I got a bad feeling about it. Feel like I'm going to be out of pocket.

Thanks in advance

Ben

Gather a bunch of examples similar to yours showing a more realistic price, from autotrader, online, private sellers and dealers. Then go back to the insurance company with your evidence of market value. Don't accept their first offer.

Thanks for the replies

Yeah I've been on auto trader looking at he same year and they all have a hell of a lot mileage Han mine had and there going for 4000. Time for me to do some more digging.

Thanks guys

I had the same as your when my 90 got written off, all dealing were with AF, mine was also insured for £2500, they offered me £1200 which i said no thanks too.

I then done research ebay autotrader gumtree etc and took various description to them and they payed out the maxium i had the vehicle insured for.

Dont give in too easilly good luck

If you've insured it for £2500 i expect you'll get £2500 eventually, unfortuanetly for you, i don't think you'll get a replacement for £2500, so, you'll be out of pocket.
