Hi everyone,
I'm currently in the process of removing the 2" lift terrafirma springs from my 1999 disco 1.
The person that fitted then has missed out the two inner washers on lower mounts on the front shocks.
This has caused the holes to wear larger and elongated.
I can see it would need a whole new mount welding to the axle..
Is there a fix anyone knows
Or are they okay left.
I only noticed because I took it apart?

Weld big washers onto the existing mount.
 
Hmmm, I like your thinking, I did think of that myself but then I thought, I need a washer the correct size for the inner bush washers to locate inside?
That could be difficult...... Maybe.......?

Doesnt sound too difficult, just measure the bush & the hole as long as the bush is smaller than the washer hole
& the bolt goes through. I have a couple of axle casings I could chop off the mounts if you wanted lol Or post you
the casing. I looked at yrm metals they only do the rear mounts. Might be worth a call to them tho.

It's a good thing that you are such an expert at measuring bushes!!;) 🤣

I had already checked. I found them I think
024 and 025?
Look like a tenner each plus all the usual extras. 😃
Just a tedious job taking it all apart again 😔🤕😔

Thanks, MOT days away and welding needed. Only doing the springs as the rear prop rubber failed due to the lift by previous owner, I didn't see the point of doing the prop internal bush and coupling only for it tho fail again due to the lift. It was only when sliding the prop off that I saw how badly aligned it was!
So, I think I'll leave the lower shock mounts for now so I can get the front inner wings and front of cill body mount done, plus boot floor and one rear anti roll bar mount to chassis.

My 1995 300tdi has a great chassis, I don't think any welding at all(shame it was written off!)
This 1999 300tdi(MY98) is crap on the chassis at the rear. I did loads in it last year!!

Only doing the springs as the rear prop rubber failed due to the lift by previous owner, I didn't see the point of doing the prop internal bush and coupling only for it tho fail again due to the lift. Get rid of the donut & fit a wide angle prop & 4 bolt flange. When I started doing the cills on mine I ended up fitting
box section cills & new body mounts. I didnt want to be chasing rust every year so I spent weeks & chopped every bit
out of it. (even all the old welding repairs to look much neater)
 
its alway more helpfull to get the correct advise if you post photo's, of the bit your asking about

Can't photograph mine as I've already put it back together. This is a photo of the front lower spring mount. The hole in the centre is now to big for the shock absorber.

Did think about the earlier uj prop conversion but I don't think I need the 2" lift and most of all I didn't have the spare money. I've just swapped the springs from my old '95 as it's written off and on its way to the knackers yard.
I had already done the nearside cill with 6mm box section on that one, took me about 3 days. This newer one isn't too bad so I'll just patch it for now.
Need to work out where the leak is in the boot. It looks like it's dripping from above the door. Really looks like the boot door seal but when looking I can't see any water tracks so maybe just above from where the headlining meets the top of the door.
Sunroof is already tiger sealed 🤐

The joys of landy ownership. Tis easier to drill holes n let the water oot. 🤣
 
thanks for the photo i can now see whats your problem was, as for me I would have welded in an old nut and drilled the thread out back to size
