Hi all, anyone any idea how long a harness should last, i have the dreaded misfire, looked at the ecu connection blocks today, red and black no oil present, having looked through the history of the car it seems that this was replaced late 2009, seems a small amount of time for it to fail again, having said that i don't really know so any help would be greatly received

First of all the only connector which u have to check is the red one... the left side of it where the yellow wires are coming friom the injectors. The new generation genuine looms are better made and will last longer. If u want to make sure oil will never reach the ECU plug again u could cut the wires and use connectors...the oil even if it will cross through the injector loom, it will leave the engine harness through the connectors :

Thats a good idea to insert the connectors, but its not reached the ecu, is their any other way of checking if its failed ? or is it a case of just replacing it, is their a nanocom near me that some kind person would use ?

It's easy to check, take off acoustic cover and unplug the external plug which belongs to the main harness(it is connected to the injector loom)...if no oil there... everything OK

To stop the oil leaking into the harness, if indeed it is - all you need to do is change the 2 blue O-rings on the injector harness plug.

They cost about £1 apiece. I have a few in stock just in case. I bought mine from LR Series.
