Hello,

Everything is sound on my 2.5 N/A all abide an oil leak that has sprung up behind my timing case. I've had a good look and it is indeed the gasket that has gone (not the crankshaft oil seal) but it's going to be a bugger to fix. Is there anything I can do instead of dismantling the front of the engine? Anything I can drop into the oil to fill the gap? Or anything I can squirt around it?

I really don't want to take the front off!
Cheers

Thats what I've got in mind but is it possible to actually clean all the oil up!? I think a bit of goo is my only option though unless I do decide to strip the front down.

Dont pump fokal into it, it will get into the oil galleries and kill it, siezed solid.

Odds on it's back pressure from that engine build where you put the pistons in with the piston rings spaced wrong. Looks like it's starting to catch up on you mate, I hope not tho.

Anyway dont put silicone anywhere near an engine, it kills them, hylomar and fokal else other than grease to build them, and only a smear.

Just thought, it aint ****ed all over your belt has it??

There isn't much crankcase pressure and no it hasn't sprayed all over the belt, it's seeping out from the back of the timing case. I guess it's just time to take it off and put a new gasket in.

Thats what I would do, get yourself a tube of blue hylomar and a new gasket and a crank seal. Pack your seal with grease before you fit it, and clean up the crank.

I think the oil pump is in there aswel, so have a swatch at it whilst your there.

There was somebody on here recently with an oil leak like that, but I think it was running down from the head, one of the girls. Just make sure it aint that poss.

It's definitely not running down from the head, the top end of the engine is dry as a bone. It's just oozing out of a small area around the back of the timing case. When I changed my timing belt not long ago the crank oil seal was in good nick. It's worth changing it though obviously!
