info needed 300tdi

hello
just saying awesome site, been great reading so far.

i have a '88 90 and a 300tdi disco, the disco is in poo condition so my plan is to swap the 300tdi into the 90,
can any one tell me if i can just swap the engine or does the gearbox need swapped too, i have been told about twenty different versions like you have to alter the baulkhead to get eng+gb in,
i would like to know how big a job it is
