Whistling noise from engine?

Hi all, over the last 2/3 days ive noticed a whistling sound coming from the engine bay of my '94 300tdi 90 whilst driving, it sound like it just behind the steering wheel, and it stops if i dab the brakes before coming back again, cant hear it when truck is parked up with engine running i cant see whats causing it and its getting on my nerves now!

Any ideas?

Split in air pipes often cause.

Check the hose from the turbo to the intercooler and from the intercooler to the inlet manifold.
By check I mean undo the hose clamps and remove the pipes, give them a clean (inside and out), look through them and reinstate if they are all good.

Servo is just the other side of the steering wheel.

That was going to be my first suggestion as well, check the vacuum pipes and servo
