Hi Guys,

My series 2a 1968 is having a compete rewire - O what fun that is

I have got everything working except the flasher repeater bulb. Does anyone know if this is a MOT requirement?

I'll fix the repeater bulb eventually but as time is of the essence here I was hoping I could do it at my leisure ;)

So any MOT testers out there?

Cheers,

Ok whats a flasher repeater bulb?

I call the the small indicators on the wings repeaters and if its them - if its there it would have to work but not required before 86 I think

Ah sorry -

Indicator repeater bulb on the stalk. As in the bit hanging off the steering shaft that the steering wheel is connected to. A bit long winded there but I think you get my meaning -

indicator tell tale light on dash. (or your case on stalk)

theoretically, yes it will need to work for the test. practically, depends on how observant your tester is.

Cor! You got a genuine early stalk with the little green lens on the end and a 5W bulb underneath it??

I had one of those on my (original) Mini Cooper!

Does your still have the little rubber wheel that runs around the steering column?

mates 2a has the stalk and two telltales on the dash (and the rubber wheel).

i always thought the dash telltales were orig

Thanks for your replies guys.

Yes it does still have the little rubber wheel that is used to turn off the indicators and yes the 5w bulb is still there.

easye1 - yes the original flasher tin can did have a spade terminal for the stalk lamp but I'm afraid that is long gone. The relay that is behind the dash now is just a standard plastic coated one. Well I guess I should fix it so I'll put a decent size pair of diodes in line and connect the relevant wire to the flasher outputs for left and right.

Thanks again guys for the replies.
