indicator fault when turnign steering wheel

When i turn the steering wheel with the indicators they sometimes hesistate for a while as though there is a lose wire on the steering wheel. Seems to be worse with this cold weather. Any ideas?????

steering wheel stalks are known problem areas.

If its the stalks - then replace them.
