idle problems....

Keep trying to search but firefox says not responding and crashes.


V8 has erratic idle once warm...it "hunts up and down between 500=1000 then after a minute or 2 the ****er will stall on its own.

any ideas?

thinking stepper motor needs a clean??

Well give it a clean and see what you get.

Start with the basics
Clean stepper motor and throttle pot housing if unsure replace the coolant temp sensor
Start engine allow to idle to temp then fit a separate tachometer and clamp the black hose from the throttle body to the stepper motor housing the idle will fall to @520 rpm +\-50 rpm if not adjust using the idle adjuster screw on the top of the plenum once set remove clamp slowly and allow idle to settle ideally 720 rpm once done leave the base idle screw alone!
