Had a look at the temp sensor, it had been unplugged!!!. It works now with a new bit of wiring and reads normal but the temp goes up to 105 deg and still no fan?. The fan works as if I unplug the ECU sensor it comes on straight away. Is there any adjustment on the fan temp?

No adjustments for the fan. It's designed to come on at a high temperature anyway. From memory it'll start the fan at 106°C. You proved the system is working as unplugging the temp sensor will put the fan on for safety. ;)

Lol tried it again and it came on at 106 deg:D.
Just recoded a second hand plip key fob from the old disco , took about a minute with the hawkeye to code it to the freelander, well pleased.
Still can't find the EKA though, but now I,ve got a second fob I'm not too bothered...

Yes I think the fettling I did has helped, it now sits at just under 800rpm when warm I can live with that.

I suppose it must have been cleaning the idle valve and replacing a couple of missing hose clips, I got the temp gauge to work but the sensor to the ECU worked anyway so that probably made no difference.
The diagnostic tool tells me the idle is still erratic but it really doesn't sound too bad now so I'll leave it alone now!
