Just thought I'd post about my recent radiator woes

We had recently got a scrap discovery with a decent engine axle's and bits and bobs, the radiator was like new on inspection.
I pulled the radiator off it last week and I thought on Tuesday seeing as the weather was ok I'd change it for mine, because there was very few fins left on it, I pulled my current one off and on closer inspection, the discovery one's oil cooler fittings had been soldered in, so I was unable to remove them, and sure enough the thread was metric whereas mine was the older type BSP. They had also been cut down slightly, that's why it came with some homemade adapters, they were very good quality one tbf.

So I decided to buy a new one off eBay, what with my Defender being unable to move. I decided to go for one of the Aluminium one's, they did mention that they are the metric one's, so I assumed that I'd be able to change the adapter over for my BSP one's. Got the Radiator today and what do you know? The bloody adapter was built into the radiator, making it impossible to remove it  My dad insisted that we went to the local land rover dealer, they would have it on stock and it would be next day delivery, So my dad was super ****ed off when I got it and the thread was metric

Luckily the homemade adaptors worked with the thread and I was able to fit the rad without the oil cooler pipes touching the bonnet stay mount :D

Two lessons I've got from this:

1: Check EVERYTHING if you get ANYTHING off a donor vehicle

2: Listen to my dad

I've struggled here so you don't have too :D
