This one looks good, the owner says chassis is good and 4wd and diff locks all work fine - might have a bid :))))

Where is best to get the soft top kit though? Do I just need the poles and canvas???

Thanks for all the replies by the way - very helpful

according to dvla records it's a diesel and there's no way a crosser is going to fit in the back!

What are the implications of that? I guess he just didn't register the engine change? Does it matter?

The bike fitting in the back was just an added bonus, can't have it all!

Cool, how much to bid is the next question. What would you guys bid out of interest? I'll go take a look at the weekend I think.

Shun't bid at all until you've had a look. Have you contacted the bloke to make sure he'll run the auction to the end? Most don't if someone comes up with a good offer. You could ask him the reserve too, most folks'll tell you what it is.

If chassis & bulkhead are good, the injun sounds sweet & the gearbox is sound it'd probably be worth a punt as a base veekal.

Good advice :)

Assuming the metal and engine are sound what do you value it at? I really don't have much idea. I was guessing about 2-2.5K?

With only 7 months to go on the ticket & V8s not being to everyone's taste, yeah you could get it for around 2K. you only need one idiot desperate for a V on fleabay to push it into silly money.

My Series III V8 was a grand with a lot of good extras, but I got lucky & found a bloke who just needed to shift it at a time when no-one wanted to take a punt on a V8.

Just don't be afraid to get underneath with a big screwdriver and have a proper sharp poke around.

my fella's just as daft (he puts up wiv me!!) it started with a seires 3 that is almost restored to factory condition but the bloke doing the work is to ill to finish it, he then agreed to buy the blokes 2 as parts for the 3 and to flog. he then found out that the 2 was regestered the same month and year he was born so then cam an otha 3 as parts for the 2! i can't keep up, and i'm the one who had to go to london wiv a trailer for the 2 and now have to go back for the 3! :D :) anyway, back to your little issue. a V8 is fantastic (remove center box and over fuel slightly) sorry, and these lads are giving sound advise regarding rust and such. yóú mite get an early defnder for the money you want to spend and a V8 sits nicely in the front of one of those.
i would always throúghly inspect and drive any truck i was gonna buy. i would even check out the hi/low and dif lock. but at the end of the day, it's your truck and as long as you lov it that's all that matters

OK, big newbie numpty question. Is a 90 a defender, S3 or just a 90? Bit confused.
