evening gents... hope someone can help here...

So, my mate drove is disco for longer than it should with a wheel bearing gone... everything kind of welded itself to the hub and stub axle..

So I had to replace the broken bits. His disco is a 95 300tdi

Stub axle, I ordered it off the internet, part number FTC3188....

But the hub, we got one off a local guy, my mate picked it up, when he gave it to me, only when i started taking it apart (swapping the brake discs), I noticed inside the disc was something different, what I think its for the ABS version.
Easy enough to get it off, few bolts and it was gone.

hub looked the same as old one, so I kept going.

Fitted it all today and now the halfshaft won't touch the hub to screw in?
It bangs on the stub axle before reaching the hub..

now, I dont think its the stub axle being too long, but could it be the hub being different? maybe not as wide as the hub on a 300tdi? thought they were all the same?
the guy that sold the hub said it was off a Disco 1 ES....

just to give an idea of the damage.. here's the old and the new stub axle

abs has reluctor ring in side disc as youve found but hubs are the same as are disc for non abs ,300 tdi only use the one set of parts ,was the hub from a 300 tdi ,300 hubs are the narrowest as are stub axles

if its the stub axle that is too long can i just cut 0.5cm off the thread at the end?

Im going to measure the old hub and the new hub and see if there's any difference, if there isnt, then i guess i was sent a wrong stub axle and have one from a 10 spline? however, the listing does say its part FTC3188, which looking at other listings is for Discovery from 94 to 98, so 300tdi.....

But if I remember right, when you put the nuts isnt there still a bit of the thread sticking out?

now im here thinking if I actually fitted the stub axle properly all the in.... have to go down to my mates and take it all apart to check..

James, you dont know the measurement of the stub axle by any chance do you?
How can i check if I have the right one? (without taking the other side apart to check)

forget that, I have the old stub axle!

its fixed... found out what the problem was.

before I didnt want to hammer the halfshaft in as i thought the hub was too narrow or the stub axle was too long

took everything apart and measured it to make sure it was the same as what was there before.
got to the conclusion the problem was the lip on the halfshaft had a bit of corrosion and was going tight against the hub.

Few good wacks with the hammer and tight the bolts one by one in a cross did the job and it went in
