Hi i was having treouble with my disco pulling to left turned out just to be the tyre. Anyways this morning i decided to have a look at teh hub anyways just to be sure, as soon as i took off the drive member cover to reveal the locknut etc everything was covered in the swival grease (alarm bells started to ring as this surly isnot normal) anyway i also noticed the lock nut was kind of loose. Not having any spares and wanting advice on here first. I put everything back and now looking for advice etc and how big a job i am looking at. Cheers

Gary

Thats great cheers, do you think i need to change the swival? am i right to say there should not be grease at the lock nut therefor is there a seal that needs replaced. In the middle of moving house not the best time to strip my car apart!

Well mine are all covered in grease from where it's come off the bearings. Are you sure it's oil from the swivel bearings and not just old multi-purpose grease?

the grease wont be from your swivel's it will be from your bearings and yes there is a seal to replace at the back of the hub quite easy to do and quite cheep too i would check the condition of your bearings before you do anything as they might just re-greasing and adjusting, your swivle housing is seperate to your hub but also look at the back of swivle housing if there is any pitting or leaks then yes new swivles will be needed,as said before almost all you need to know will be in busters briliant how too's ;)

Maybe Barker, just going by the Haynes there is no grease there, im sure it was the hub grease as its only a few months ago i drained out the oil and replaced it with the grease too. I mean everything seems ok there i was just having a nosy about after pulling ot left but swapping tyres seems to have sorted that right out! Think ill keep and eye on it and see what happens
