Hi all ive been posting a few threads recently simple i dont know much. Next friday im getting my dads landrover 110 to drive about in when hes at work i get his landy when hes home i get the bus basically. The problem is its an 84 with no radio or speakers and i like my michael jackson so need to fit a radio for my celine dion and britney spears maybe some elton john and cliff richards problem is how to do this i know speakers go under the dash but is there a wiring kit or guide for fitment i really dont want to go to the electritions unless im snookerd. Youre help would be super amazing worthy of a pint perhaps.

what vehicle is it cos there ain't many places on a deepender dash to put speakers.

Usually it's just a matter of finding a live wire and running that to the radio then deciding where the speakers are going to go.

depends on yur radio.. yer might need a 'always' live and an 'ign' live as well as a erff. then yer might have 4 speaker wires or yer might have a reet shed load of speaker wires. you could also have a blue fer a lectrick aerial or yer might not

Its 1984 110 2.5 N/A its older than braveheart my dad dont want a radio but if im driving it its either a case of the big american gangster boom box or a radio. All the other landrovers ive drove or been in the speakers are under the dash but i was thinking 2 speakers in the headlining but really id like it to stay landrover and not boyracer coz well thats what they do 1.2 corsa and they think its a ferrari

By the sounds its like my old tractor i had a mate wire it were good till the tractor got sold 3 month later. These comments are good so if were to use the hand held electric tester i need a live an earth and wire that gives electric when ignition is on. That be radio giving power then run wires to speakers sounds ok but ill go through a few=10 fuses before the magic happens but ill give it a go no harm in trying i supose

I recognise some of them wires when i was behind the dash changing a bit my dad orderd me to the bit at the end of the ignition barrel i think could be wrong like wouldnt be surprised. Just wondering why youres had no radio since its a lot newer than my dads. But that picture of the wiring looks like what i need. Do i wire the speakers into the live or the ignition wire

Well ye could, but things might go POP!!! What ah did was just run some new speaker wire tae the speakers, easily done:rolleyes: the packet that yer connector should tell ye what are yer speaker cables

Get yourself come of the household wire connector blocks. You only need a screwdriver to attach the wires and you can play by stuffing the wires into each hole until you get the right sound out of the correct speaker. Also make connecting the CB and anything else much easier.

:) i agree. Try this though - my 1984 90 NAD had no radio, it does now. If you remove the cover that it may have in the middle of the dash, where the clock is in some, there should be some wires. Brown is live, but this isn't fused so i would put one in. Black is always earth, but check it first. I think switched live was white, but dnt pull too much current through this as it will melt stuff. The stereo, if it has standard coloured wire, will need yellow (normally a lot thicker) as live, red as switched, black as earth. Then, the speakers go in pairs, with a pair of colour/colour-with-a-stripe for each speaker. If it has standard ISO plugs on it, then the middle 4 pins of that connector do front speakers, the outer 2 do rear speakers. As for where to put speakers, if u put them in the dash that can be done but you will need a spacer for the passenger side one as it will foul the wiper motor otherwise, and not fit. You could however do what I have which works well and sounds great - i have a pair of (free) home stereo speakers, still in their original housing, strapped in the back corners. sounds good, they can be put outside the car for when camping etc, and are really tough, and dnt requrie any cutting to fit. Hope this is of use!
