Hello Everyone. Firstly, first post, secondly Please move this thread to the right area I have searched five of pages under radio... but nothing fits my problem. So, my husband has a Freelander Sport 2004 model, since purchasing it we have sorted out each problem that came our way (replacing electric windows mainly!) The last owner has been all over the car, but why replace all the screws when two will do... don't ask!! The radio sort of worked e.g. out of the little speakers only and the control button was fecked, so he couldnt alter the volume, fade etc. Answer, I buy him the same radio off of ebay. It seemed the best option as he likes to keep things orginal (each to their own). Now, Im unsure if we have a dud or another hidden problem. Firstly we have the codes to the new one and the old. He fitted the new one and all operations function but none of the speakers seem to work. Not even the little ones. It IS a different model, but our old one although having two slots, only had one plug which fitted perfectly. I just spoke with a stereo installation bloke and he said that it's not just the codes but it might not work as the car "programming was different" . Is there anything we can do to solve this problem? Thank you for any help, anyone can offer or advise. [GALLERY=][/GALLERY]

Hi and welcome to the Freelander section. The facelift (yours) has a few radio options fitted from the factory. Some use a single plug an some use a twin plug set-up. I'm assuming you're original twin plug Vestion unit that has multi CD capacity player. Is your original stereo like this (multi CD stereo)?

or is the CD eject button different (single CD stereo) The twin plug stereo can connect to an amplifier.
You don't need have all the wiring or amplifier to use the twin plug stereo.

If your old stereo was working through the small speakers (tweeters) then the stereo was working fine. The problem will be with the larger door speakers. These are a known problem as water drips on them causing them to rust up. Replacing the main door speakers with some working replacements or some aftermarket replacements that fit, should solve your problem. I have JVC replacements in my 05 SE.
