Proper noob question.. Was told I may have Salisbury diffs on my 300tdi, it was just a passing comment but now I need to change the axle I'm left wondering. Is there an easy (or hard) way of telling them apart? Cheers.:D

Clue - google Salisbury axle and look at the differential housing in particular.

What a load of unhelpful prats. Why bother posting if you aren't going to be constructive?

OP - This is the Disco forum, so do you have a Disco or did you mean to post in a different forum? As you shouldn't have a Salisbury axle on a stock Disco.

Very easy to tell apart as they look totally different, which I agree Google can help you with.

BTW - why are you replacing the entire axle? Sounds a bit drastic.

Rover axle diff looks the same as the front axle diff. Salisbury axle diff is very different bigger and more square shaped. The two diffs aren't interchangeable so if you've got a big squared off diff you have a Salisbury axle.
Try to ignore the unhelpful types that frequent this forum, they just love a newbee, they can be fun at times but when you have a problem most of the grown ups on here know you need help not the **** taking, even if that help is just to do a search.
