How long will it last?

Good Morning my fellow Eskimos! Just a general question regarding the lifespan of a Disco. My 1995 300tdi passed its MOT yesterday:D after spending the weekend being welded:( (5 patches, all around rear seatbelt mounts). It's cost me about £170 to get it MOT'D which i think is ace!
My question is this... how long can a Disco go on for before needing major body or chassis repairs?
I used 5l of waxoyl last summer but i think i'll go for 15-20l this summer.

Any comments or examples would be appreciated

Don't think so, I work in London so use the disco only at weekends sometimes, it's only done 36,000 always washed on Sundays :) undersealed and waxoyled and I have the use of two other cars.

deluded then .....

ah well

I look after my disco like a baby, washed every week. waxoyled every year, mini service every 6 months etc, i do about 3k a year and it spends most of its time on tarmac.
I'm thinking about the long term. I want to keep my truck forever. Am i being nieve thinking that if i look after it that it will go on for 5-10 years? Or are uneconomical repairs inevitable?

i suspect there are plenty of people who have done repairs on their own vehicles that would be totally unecconomic if they'd had to pay a hourly rate for someone to do the job - but that's just how landys get under your skin

he's right.
YIP THESE CHAPS ON HERE ARE RIGHT IVE ONLY HAD MINE 3 WEEK IVE PUT NEW FLOORIN BACK WELDED SILLS INNER WING FIXED HI / LOW DRIVE FITTED NEW WINDSREEN I NEVER THOUGHT ID BE ABLE TO DO IT BUT LIKE THEY SAY IT GETS UNDER UR SKIN OH BY THE WAY MINES A 93 DISCO BOUGHT FROM SCRAP YARD 70 QUID NOW MOTd.:)

WTF!? I try and get mine muddy every weekend and then the rain washes it orf again!

And as for uneconomical repairs, fixing the overheating problem I had would've cost way more than it's worth (new stat, water-pump, head gasket and clearing through all the hoses) but it was SO worth it. I can really say it's mine, all mine, now.

Who loves their Disco more (I feel a new thread coming on), someone who touches it up with a sponge at weekends or those of us who aren't scared to be up to their elbows with landy juice for a couple of days and treats it how it wants to be treated at weekends?
:5brant:
