How good is the newer Puma Alarm?

Hi All,

We have just joined the forum after purchasing a new 110 utility, so far so good and its already a much loved member of our family :)

Obviously we want to keep it this way - however I have become paranoid of it being stolen!! After reading many useful posts on here we have invested in various security mods like disklok, bonnet hinges, traker, DIY mods, ball bearings in door hinges etc....

I believe the early puma alarm was pretty easy to get around and was horrified when I saw posts of unfortunate people who had had their cars nicked with bits of connector and wheel lining fixings left where the car was parked.

I also understand with my limited technical knowledge our 2014 2.2 puma has a newer alarm fitted with battery backup and two sounders??? If this is the case, does anyone know how good this alarm system is, or do we need to consider a 2nd alarm?

Thanks

I've heard of the brand spanking new ones being nicked within a few months of being bought,

Tracker and pedal lock are a great place to start, pedal box is a must though,

Do any of the pedal boxes apply pressure on the brake pedal, as to add another challenge to moving it or loading onto a flatbed?

i don't think they do, but might be possible to wedge something between pedal and box so brakes are applied when its locked.

Yep, Glue a ball bearing on top of the bolt head, Stops them stealing your doors ;)

14 lb sledge plus a 5/16 bolly and a touch of arald!ite?…

I'll be speaking to a Ripon Landrover rep tomorrow so I'll ask about Thatcham rating, although it never mentions it on the spec/finance bumf on a 110 HCPU.

(35 @ £265/month plus deposit on a poverty spec 110 Hi Cap at present if you're feeling flush...)

A pedal box blocks all pedals, means they could start it, but not move it under its own power

I assume you mean not move it? However this is not the case with a pedal box, all you have to do is put it into gear, take the handbrake off then hotwire / start it. It will then start in gear and can be driven away (albeit slowly at tickover).
