I't not that I wanna race... :D Just got feeling that got something wrong with the engine, as it's a bit weak. 110 200tdi, 255/85/16 BFG/MT, turbo tuned up to 1 bar, increased fuel, alisport intercooler. 65 it's reasonable top speed, if i'll push it - goes to 69. (gps: 63/67) I got a mate, that in his 300tdi 90, on 33inch; mt, does over 80-85. So have no clue if it's something wrong with mine or it's supposed to be like that. On motorways I usually drive 55-60 having turbo at 0.5-0.7 bar all the time which seems to be a little too much I think. How is it with yours?

Doesn't sound good - my 2.5td will easily do 70mph, and I've seen 80mph before now (although I was convinced it was gonna explode!)
My 200tdi transplant starts this month - after what you've said, I hope it's not going to be a backwards step!

The engine seems to be fine, no smoke, starts first time, smoothly running - just have no clue why is that - cant be tires i guess...

My 110 could do about 70-75 with a knackered old TD, which has now blown up. My other 110 with a tdi could do 85 easily with the fuelling adjusted, and my 3.9 V8 110 could do over 100 without too much drama. Bloody loud and bloody wobbly at that speed though.

My 110 disco 200Tdi with defender transfer box cruises at 70 and will easily get to 80 for overtakes.... and 90mph was seen once for about 20 seconds before all the noise scared me :D

Ok, now you got me p....d off really...
What the heck may be wrong then? Engine seems to be fine, starts on touch even in the winter, no smoke, smooth run... rims are not getting warm, so have no clue really what may be causing such a power drop. At 55mph i got 0.5-0.7 bar boost pressure on motorway which seems to be a bit too much for a basic cruise speed. Turbo works fine though ( 1 bar max) and, usual 28mpg so there must be something wrong somewhere...

check boost hoses.

i had a 1994 300tdi 90 stock that would screech tires (265/75/16) on second gear and pull strong past 90 mph . how i miss that defender:Cry: i have another 300 tdi 90 now that will do 90 mph but not without some effort not much but still..

I've got a 90" 1994 200 tdi that quite comfortably goes 70-75 mph, and 80-85 if I floor the pedal and there's not too much head wind. The wheels are standard 7.50R16.

As you drive a 110" that would probably cause some extra weight to be hauled by the same size engine, but also be aware that your tyre size (255x85x16) means that your speedometer reading is roughly 4.5 % too slow (the circumferance being roughly 4.4 inches bigger than the standard tyre).

Though it sounds odd, a change of engine oil and filters can do wonders for the general running of the 200 tdi - I just changed mine and got +4 mpg as a result (top speed has not changed much though).

If none of this works you might want to check things like compression, as some of the power may not reach the wheels, but 'leak' out where you don't want it.

My series did 70 once...downhill...and I lost the abilty to hear for 3 days and needed to see an osteopath !
