Ok the snows here, as usual left thoughts of tyres to last minute...I have puny 205 R16 roadtyres on at the mo...probably a daft question but can i put any 16'' tyre on these standard rims? I am looking at some 265/65 R16's that are a decent price...just want to be sure b4 i order...thanks, Mark:)

without a lift 265/75/16's are the biggest you can go. That'll give you the same ride height (all bar about 1.5mm) as the 235/85/16's but 30mm wider tread.

Guys I plan to put a Maxxis MT-762 BIG HORN 285/75/16 on my Defender 110. It will have a 2" lift. Can someone recommend the right alloy for this size. What is the correct rim size that will take this tyre. My rear axle is drum type.

Only one? Surely that'll affect the handling somewhat ... ;)

285's need to go on an 8" rim, not the normal 7".
Stick to 265's and you'll have a bigger choice of tyres and cheaper wheels.
