Morning all,

Just bought myself a J Reg Disco 300 TDi, so im a little new to this.

Had the remote changed on the gearbox / changer repaired - couldnt find any gears, guys at garage said the rods / springs etc had probably been filled with crud after possible off roading. Took it, stripped it down - seems to be ok now.

One thing I have noticed - before and after they did it - was that when manoeuvering out of my parking space, the brake pedal seems to make a "hissing" noise when you jump on it?

Not sure what this is - only seems to do it when cold, brakes seem fine the rest of the time.

Any ideas - are my brakes about to fail next time im on the M62? ;)

I hope someone can shed some light, and I look forward to being an active member of this forum.

The servo has a air filter around the pushrod attached to the brake pedal.

It should get changed once in a while but no-one ever does it.

Every time you apply the brakes the servo lets in a dollop of air through that filter, and that is probably what you are hearing.

You may hear it a couple of times even with the engine stopped.
