Brakes??

Some advice needed??

I have just done my brake! I have changed all 4 wheels with new Calipers and Discs!

Couple of weeks between the fronts and the rears! After the brakes were not return to the default settings!! I.e. not returning in the up position To cancel the brake lights!

The fronts were replaced first! After removal, the driver side caliper was suspect!! As as it was rusty around the seal! And not looking good!

Once replaced, all four were bled, and back on the road! A couple of days later! Noticed wet patch on the passenger side! I did not tighten the main brake line.

Couple days later! Had the same problem with the brake pedal not returning??

This time, I made a vist to my local garage for second opinion!!
This time the rear driver side disc was scored by the piston!!

New Rear calipers and discs changed! And still the same problem??

Any advice would be much appreciated?

Firstly, is this about your Discovery 2 ? If not, what vehicle ?

Secondly, the discs can't be scored by the caliper pistons - they should not be in contact unless the pads are missing.
Are you suggesting that the rear drivers side brake pad has scored the disc ?
New pads shouldn't cause any scoring because the pad material should be softer than the disc material.
Was something hard / metallic trapped between the pad & disc ?

When the brake pedal wouldn't return the first time, what was done / changed that made it return OK ?
Can you pull the pedal back by hand ?
When the brakes were being bled after the caliper changes, would the pedal move smoothly to the floor or was the movement "sticky" / rough or hard - suggesting something creating friction in the brake pedal pivot ?

Yes!

Pads not missing! Pads still good for a few thousand miles!!

Open to ideas!!

No.

A First Parade was carried out on all visable components!! All was checked with no problems seen!!

Changed that made it return OK ?

Replaced Discs and Calipers!! All good for a couple/few days!

Can you pull the pedal back by hand ?

No!! Arms not that long
Left toes bring the brake back to position?

Brake pedal was smooth on all occasions? Myself and at the garage?

Front piston, driver side was pitted?? But (Pitting) not in contact with the pad?

Master!
Servo!
Or spring under brake pedal?

But will be looking at master sometime this week

How did it go ?

Still looking!, busy last week! And thus weekend in London for Remembrance Weekend! So I will be looking at the rake pedal and the Servo?

Just a quick update!

Brakes now done, finished and working as they should

Problem was the Pivot Shaft on top of the Pedel assembly, see attached picture.
