GOT ME 200TDI WELL STUCK IN A BOG TODAY. MY MATE PULLED ME OUT IN A HILUX SURF (OR WHATEVER IT IS). SO WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM THIS? ...........DEFENDERS CAN GET FURTHER INTO BOGS THAN JAP CHARIOTS BUT NOT NECCESSARILY OUT OF THEM.
BUT SERIOUSLY, I KNEW THAT I SHOULD HAVE WADED THROUGH ON FOOT AND PROBED THE GROUND WITH A STAFF/STICK FIRST BUT EXUBERANCE GOT THE BETTER OF ME. NEVER BE THIS SILLY IF YOUR OUT THERE ON YOUR OWN OR YOU WILL GAIN A LONG WALK AND THE BOG WILL GAIN A NICE LANDROVER FEATURE.

Just to even things up, I had to be pulled out of the ****e in my Fourtrak by a Defender a while back.

I got stuck when the gearbox bashplate grounded, my mates 90 had just sailed through! :D

Hi!

I remember once at an RTV trial, the way in to the venue was through a gateway that had become very muddy and slippery. Several people had found it a bit tricky getting through and one Land Rover got stuck - I think it was a Series 2 or 3. Anyway, after it had been moved, someone drove straight through the mud in a small car without any drama - I think it was a Fiesta! My guess is that by a fluke, the driver had been on the bits where the mud was shallowest and the surface underneath was hardest! Whereas the Land Rover drivers, naturally, had chosen to go through the messiest bits.
