Having a progressive problem with my "04 TD4. Hill descent and Traction Control lights and the temperature readout is at high at first ignition. This has recently developed where it has given poor starting and many turns of the starter motor to get it going (it is intermittent but is occurring more regularly now - when they are off it starts up first time). The temperature reading drops to 0 as the engine is cold and works normally showing the engine warming up, however HD and TC lights remain on.

I have fitted a new Bosch s5 battery which is working fine - good output etc. Also put in the brake switch and harness adapter.

Intermittent suggests a loose connection to me....not sure - any suggestions?

Help would be much appreciated!

check the connectors at the engine ECU, (disconnect battery first then give them a contact spray)...also check the ECU earth connections(C0559 to 0560 )...the HDC and TC lights are coming on without the ABS(provided the ABS light works on self check) if there is a ECM(engine controll module aka ECU) signal failure(second line in the table)...which would give you various troubles...pray to not be an ECU failure though
