A bit limited on info here as I'm posting in behalf of my old man. Will know more at the weekend.

Td5 D2 auto.

When pulling away in any of the forward gears or reverse, the engine is revving high but not a lot of movement. After a few mins, all is well and drives as normal. It's like the equivalent of pulling away in 3rd but in all gears.

Any thoughts? Gearbox oil was changed about 15k (3 years) ago. Dash is promptly reporting the correct gear relative to selection.

As I say, I will be with the vehicle at the weekend and will better know the symptoms but want to turn up with some ideas of what it could be and perhaps even the means to repair.

Cheers.

How much oil was used then? as on a "simple" change by letting out the oil once and refilling with new doesnt actually "change" the oil just refresh it cos about half of it gets out of the 9.7 litres which is in the whole system. Better change it again, after the first "dose" go for a ride as the box to go thorugh all gears more times then change again and then put the new filter too. Then you'll have around 80% new oil in it and it's ruled out. The symptom you describe looks very like caused by worn oil cos a clutch slip usually comes with M+S warnings too
