hi everyone !

are these things worth the extra money ?

K & N branded on e-bay and the like for thirty quid plus, getting on for ten times as much as other things that'll no doubt do the job - is the contribution to enhanced performance worth forking out for ?

thanks....

If you get a high-flow airfilter, be aware that one of the reasons for higher flow is it has bigger holes in it to let more air through. These bigger holes also let dust and 'other stuff' through ... On their own, IMHO they're a waste of time. If you want to 'do it right, then you need to match the injector pump/carburettor (whatever) and the exhaust flow to the 'improved' air inlet, and then gains are to be had .. but it's not just a bolt-on air filter and get more power if you're doing it properly.

Mind, if you did do the extra work, I'd still pay for a better quality item and use decent oil to keep it damp with, it's the oil that holds the larger particles and stops them hurting the engine. They require a lot more maintenance than a standard air-filter, again, if you're doing it right!

yer pays yer money, yer takes yer choice!! ;)

I have 1, mainly for the reason im a lazy git! If anything needs replacing i prefer to add an equal or better quality replacement part, my reasons for this are hopefully that item will will not have to be replaced for a very long time hence the stainless steel exhaust and the K&N etc etc, your engines ecu will automatically detect any changes made and try to revert back to its factory settings anyway so without any major mechanical upgrades your not really gonna have any noticable improvements, that said im sure my motor seems more responsive now and it sure sounds one hell of a lot better!

That said there a lot of threads mentioning the above problems such as a lot of crap getting into the engine and also the "oil" from the filter messing with the air flo mass sensor (i think thats what its called)

You make your choice, I have 1, no probs so far after a year. touch wood.
