I was looking at some other Discovery 3 forums and noticed a lot of hints - things that you might know if you read the manual in depth, but that you might not know straight off. For example, that the cruise control buttons adjust the HDC speed.

I was wondering - anyone know of any weird/hidden/unobvious 'features' on the Disco II??

Here's one to start you off. If you have the High-Line Hardon Karmon stereo, pressing the 'i' button once puts traffic mode on. But if you hold it down, you also get 'NEWS' mode.

Any more? The cooler the better

Does anyone know if it's as easy to after-fit Cruise control to a tdV6 Disco 3 as it was to my Disco 2 td5?

Here's another - if you've got your front wipers on normal (constant), and your back wiper on too, the intermittent speed controller on the stalk adjusts the delay on the back wiper. If your front's are on intermittent too, the speed control adjusts both, and synchronises both front and back wipers.

One more - If you plug in headphones into the rear ICE sockets, it switches off the subwoofer in the back door, even if the main passengers are listening to something different to the 3rd row passengers.

Just as Jesus turned water into wine (I bet that could turn Slob religious!), so does every LandRover turn rainwater leaks into oil leaks.

The world's energy crisis could be solved if only everyone drove LandRovers in the rain

BUT if you press and hold the volume knob for a few seconds it switches the sub back on...;)

You can change the climate control read out from centigrade to fahrenheit or vice versa.

Press and hold both the air recirculate button and on/off button (together) for 3 seconds, the unit bleeps and the display changes.
