Hello, this is my first post. firsty sorry for the vaugue title but im not really sure what to class it as.... so the problem is as follow;
Yesterday i come to my discovery, which is currently in storage until its back on the road next month due to insurence, and it started perfectly fine as it does, i ran it for a while to keep it going. the only small issue is there was ice forming on the inside of the front window, no biggy so i orders some of the obsorbant pods people put in rooms to keep moisture out of the air in a ettempt to stop this.
i again went to my disco today, not aiming to work on it, and as normal went to start it. firstly when i went to unlock it. nothing. apart form a dash FULL of light. ok so maybe battery, so i unlock it using the key and a small beep form the alarm goes off. when i opened the door alarm goes off. i tried putting key in ignition and starting it with alarm in an attempt to see what the problem was, but i could only shut it up by locking it using the key, as i guess youd expect. at this point slightly confused, but after some scratching of the head and google i left it for about 30 minutes and now it wont unlock on the fob but it will open without the alarm going off. and it starts! perfect! well apart from the key fob thing. but now i come to turn it off. and it doesnt turn off. like i could go to the shops with the keys in my pocket and it would stay running. so i stalled it to get it off. after some playing and trying different things i found that if i turn the ignition off it wont stop but as soon as i touch the brake it cut off, but when driving with the key in ignition it doesnt cut out. everything else seemed to work.
after some more google, someone suggested something about the wires going to the brake lights shorting and effectign fuel pump? reasonable i guess but i looked in the rear door panel to find nothing obvious but with -3degrees i didnt fancy hanging around. the only thing i found was a black like mold? im guessing its mold which i will clean away but i guess it is 19+ years old...
anyway i should still mention at this point that all the dash lights are constantly on unless the engines on. i can drive it around etc perfectly fine.
not sure if its related but half way through this i noticed that the interior lights stopped working when the doors were open, i know they were working at the start of the night.
finally the relay going to the ECU i believe? R9 i think the one with the engine and power symbol across it, well thats constantly clicking even with the key out. i forgot to check if it was when the engine was running but im going to guess not? i tried a different relay but with no change.
finally i should mention that it would not lock off the key fob at the end and would just make a small chirp from the alarm when i tried.

so i have a small amount of electrical knowledge but not a huge amount so im hoping someone can help... i can only guess its one of 3 things;
firstly possibly a ground/earth? pretty much my go to with landrovers and wiring lol
secondly maybe somethign to do with the imobaliser? not too sure
thirdly the ignition barrel? i mean should there even be power going to the dash or the relay when the ignition is off? i mean i guess it might not even be only one thing and could just be chance that multiple things have happened at once?

finally remember when i said it had frozen on the inside the day before? well ive put those condesation things in, 6 to be exact lol, so i guess ill let you know if this might possibly solve anything? maybe a one off or something to do with water? either way ill be back there tomorrow and will respond if it has decided to fix itself.
anyway many thanks to anyone who might be able to shed some light on this for me! and please ask if you need to know anything else, however i think ive included the events form the last few days atleast lol.

these do suffer from bad earth points, there is quiet a few different point where they are located, any rust hole above fuse box and ecu as they rot in that area,
Yes this was one of my thoughts, i had a very quick look but couldnt see anything around that area but will have a proper look and take things apart to get a better look. Thanks for the advice!

UPDATE: so i went back to the disco last night to see what the problem was. i reconnected the battery after the night before and no light came on the dash and everything seemed to work as it should, apar from the central locking of the kay and the interior lights on the door opening. bot the lights and the central locking worked form the buttons inside just not from the key or from when i opened the door? i saw something which suggests it couldve been related to the reciever being damp for the central locking?
well i let it run for a good while, heated up and heated the cabin up in an attempt to remove any damp, even thought there doesnt seam to be that much which is obvious atleast. i was back there today so decided to see if it was working still, this time i found that all the lights were on the dash again, and the battery was flat. i am guessing the lights have caused the battery to go flat. so i am pssibly back with the same problem. i still havnt had time to clean the earths up so will do this asap especialy around the ecu, other than this maybe the ignition barrel? and could it be possible that the central locking problem is not directly related and is due to the reciever being slightly damp?
any advice welcome! Thankyou!
