Cheers.:):)

My Volvo has them as standard and it dont have self levelling anything. It has a manual headlight adjuster for when you fill the boot up but then so does my defender. Goes from 1 to 4 and moves the whole headlight assembly up and down.

Well its almost the official version......
First line of that statement is that 'in the Department's view'.....

The DFT doesn't make the law - it just tries to implement and uphold the law. You'll find thousands of people on the web who claim to know something outlawing Aftermarket HIDs - but the truth is no-one has actually found any UK law which does that.

Self levelling blah pressure washing blah type approval blah.....
Some EEC regulations stipulating new cars must......

It looks like the verdict is out. Thousands of people are out there using them and going through MOTs. But until a case goes to court after there has been an incident, there really is no clear cut answer IMHO. Personally I'm not going to risk it as I can't stand being blinded by HIDs and wouldn't want to retrofit & cause a scattered pattern.

PS that DFT statement really is hiddeous pile of legal garb if you read it properly!

Tried this conversion on a V class merc did one headlight first to compare - the pattern was great - really nice and bright. All seemed good until I looked at the car with the headlights on. The HID was dazzling at night - the original wasn't.

Yet on a bike (a BMW R1150GS - this isn't a problem.

Maybe the "Projector" style lights are better for them. The lights that you can actually see the filament of the bulb seem to dazzle more with HID's....

So tread carefully.....
