Hi! Is there a cheap OBD II unit for a TD5 Discovery?

I just spent another £600 on my X-Reg TD5 Discovery and a week later it starts misfiring again :-(

Being able to do a bit of home DIY I reckon I'm up for a bit of car maintenance too

So I'm in at the deep end and, being a bit of a computer techie, I fancy getting a bit of help from the OBD.

Looking through all the forums here and elsewhere I cannot find a cheap solution for reading OBD II codes.

Is there a cheap solution to get these codes?

Would this work?:

OBD II AutoScanner DTC Data Code Reader: Virtual Village - UK

Or am I just being overly hopeful (I suspect I am)

cant see why that would not work, when you do get one go to equus products,inc you can read your codes on there. welcome.

In the end, I bought one of these:



(If ebay take the link away then its a CAN OBD II "Car diagnostic tool" orange with a black cable to an OBD II connector - it has two blue buttons and small lcd display)

Sadly it did not work - maybe one day I'll use it on another car or dismantle it and make my own discovery OBD II unit
