Should we buy a little slanty cap and a soft chair with "Director" written on it?

the only place i'll be Directing from is my drivers seat :)

and thoughts are, some people haven't got the mates to go laning, or the experience to take themselfs out. i personally think

enough said!

OK,

I've been reading TOR and there seems to be a complete industry committed to providing green lane trips, especially in North Wales. Am I missing something or do these people really provide a service that can not be gained by simply going out with a bunch of mates?

Of course they may be aimed at Billy no mates, in which case I understand (I think), though £25 per vehicle to drive ROW seems a little steep! Thoughts?

That sounds a bit too organised and I'm not sure I could handle laning on somebody elses terms/rules. As you point out paying to drive ROW seems a bit daft. Why not just ask on the forum if any one with local knowledge is willing to show you round??

cheers Kev, luckily it was all ok and controlled-ish. Fire extinguisher did its thing but i will be getting a new one soon i have seen 3 motas in up in flames 2 because of alternator faults and unknowns all 3 cars were scrap feeling quite happy considering what could have been. Defo fitting a cut out switch again beats scrambling for a 13mm spanner any day! Landy needs a new harness should be one in the garage spare hopefully so should be on the road again soon! But i appreciate the offer of help should be an easy bolt on job cheers Jai

Thas a ****
I have told him it's crap off road and to get a Land Rover. with what he's spent on broken parts off road he could have bought a nice 90 by now, maybe that's why he doesn't come off road anymore, he's started taking notice of me.

lol macy d's i could make a mint selling burgers to all the clapped out corsa's with fibre glass and filler slapped everywhere they call them body kits, i think they are better described as bumper cushions for when they loose it on the bend Jai

Yo Glenn!

The Rangie is minus a radiator for the moment. Hopefully will be able to pick up refurbed on Friday and get it fitted so might be about at the weekend.

Will keep you posted.

hiya Glenn

If you follow the alternator harness (when looking at the engine from the front) it goes from the alternator on the right hand side across the top of the timing cover then heads backwards following the cylinder head on the left hand side back behind the engine block in 2 plastic clips then heads down to the starter motor pos terminal. Also the ignition wires are part of the harness these are perm live from starter motor no fuses as the alternator wire. Where mine went was behind the block they fell out the plastics clips burnt on the block and shorted out. Hope this helps if not phone me and ill try and explain Jai

RangeyV8,

Does it run O.K. at idle or is it hunting around?

Can't remember what engine and injection system you have. If it is 3.5 flapper, might be worth looking at the AFM, they are known to stick, the good news is you can take the cover off and get to the innards and sort it, there is info on this but I can't remember where - might have been the RPI Engineering website.

I guess it would then be a question of looking at each bit in turn. Assuming you are getting fuel the injectors/fuel pump/pressure regulator are working o.k.

If your alternator is o.k. assume the injection trigger pulse is o.k., but check coil, ballast resitor and ignition amplifier. Did you say you have changed your dizzy - is it the right one with the correct advance? is your vacuum advance working?

That's the fairly obvious stuff - then its' in to the tricky bits - checking sensors and the operation of the ecu. If you're on flapper I can't do much but I have got a spare 14CUX ECU and 3AM AFM and complete injection loom for the hotwire injection system.

If the engine is mechanically sound you are only looking for an electrical gremlin, you might also want to think about checking all the earth connections.

Hope that helps.
