when we got there they didnt look that stuck although it was dark when we tried the nice and slow approach it was soon apparent that they were well and truely stuck! It took a few good goes with the rope and they were all sorted. I do hope they learn from this and dont in off alone again Jai

we pulled up and Ryder was all kitted up boots on rope at the ready it was quite a swift exercise and i stayed in the warm! Jai

I would have been happy to tow them out guys i only live 20mins from the ford. Any time you need me you guys have my number just ask:)

we all still on for saturday, where are we meeting PM please:D

so did they go out on there own at NIGHT, or had they been stuck from during the day?
I believe they had gone out to do a few lanes in the evening. One lives stevenage way and the other at Baldock. The ford was quite deep, enough to cover the bonnet on their unmodded disco and at one point they thought that they had taken water in through the air filter. Concerned; they looked for the easiest escape from the wet stuff, unaware that they had reached the end of the ford anyway. They decided to get out of the water into the sh**. Drove onto what looked like a much drier bank only to realise the value of a long pointy stick when evaluating the "stuck potential" of a soft stretch of lane. And there they sat,
and sat,
then they sat some more,
then they thought about what to do and decided to sit,
then we got there

It all sounds very exciting although I'm glad I was tucked up in a sleep deprived overworked kind of coma which is to say I would have risen to the call for help but wouldn't have heard the phone!!

The question is though, WTF were they doing there if they didn't know what they were playing with? Water in the day is tricky but at night if you don't know it can be lethal.

Anyway, I suppose alls well that ends well, glad everyone in one piece.

glad i didnt go by the time i would off got back i would be getting ready to get to london long nights work for you 2 well done tho changes the number for the AA to jai's number :D

Midnight Drama .. Well done Cheers to Ryder and Jai ...

Another lesson learned i guess , the hard way ... If in Doubt leave it out and dont go it alone .... Not on Voilets Lane lol ..

A great call for Mayday on the forum to get a rescue out ...

To be fair most of us at 1 time have been there before.
In the early days I managed to get myself stuck in a ford in the middle of winter in a standard Range Rover with my kids and made several attempts to free myself. I did however manage to get out by using full lock and rolling back and forward. Its very easy to judge when you have lots of experience and looking back I felt such a fool for doing it. Since then I have made it one of my lifes little missions to become as competent an off road driver I can. This has consisted of 7 years doing as much as I can with some really cool friends and in many areas.
Its all very well slating people with less skills than yourself on any subject but I bet there are things they can do that would baffle you!
If I can pass on any of my knowledge I will do and do it willingly coz I really dislike the people in life who think they are better than you because they can do something you cant or earn a few more quid than you or drive a newer car. What the point to these people anyway!
In the short time that I have known this Hertfordshire laners crew I have seen so much progression in skills and am happy to be a part of it all.
I feel humbled to know people that would go out in the middle of the night to a stranded stranger just because they are a fellow Landy owner and not give it a second thought. I take my hat off to you guys :clap2:
