Hi everyone, things still going to plan here, going to the pub meet straight after work, should be there about 7pm.

Don't you go blaming me for your own afflictions, you did that all by yourself:p

BTW glad to hear you've got it fixed - been there, have welded a number of patches on my sills, replaced all the brake pipes, welded sections of floor, inner wings, replaced rear hubs, done a couple of ball joints and the list goes on..... and on ..... and on. WELCOME TO LANDY OWNERSHIP:eek:

kev is right landys get a bad name because most people neglect them and hardly never service or maintain them. its most definatly worth spending an evening a month looking and doing maintainance. Most of the wrecks at Whaddon are being repaired every other week because nobody is bothered to check them over diffs, gearboxes, propshafts engines, brakes etc you will learn alot anything you need to know just ask wd will always do our best to help Jai

So i am taking thr kids to school and I start getting this nasty knocking from the front pasenger side wheel... almost like a drive is slipping on splines.... Hmmm half shaft maybe?

nasty knocking from the front pasenger side wheel... almost like a drive is slipping on splines.... Hmmm half shaft maybe?

Sounds ominous:eek: Could be the shaft, could be bearings, could be CV joint. It might even be something less dramatic, worn suspension bushes, loose shock absorber ( sorry, damper). Any vibration, vague steering perhaps?

When is it knocking - under acceleration, coasting, turning etc? that's the trouble with guessing the noise eh:confused:

Would normally be happy to come take a look but time a bit tight for the next few days. dunno if anybody else can take a look for you or offer a more informed opinion as to what it might be.

Ok its at Roundhill Woods and its with the anglian land rover club stricter fairer landy rules different to the anglian rover owners club (its all quite confusing i know) my mota is technically banned because my bumper is too high but for tyro they will let it go its all about fun for the kids and family I will get my neices there to drive the tyro they might also be running RTV and CCV courses im not sure but landy rules no serious mods allowed they are a good group very good guys Jai

Right... Jai's taken a look and emerged from the underside of Gyl (Our Disco) with a look of consternation (that's nothing to do with astronomy Phil). Apparently the rear bearing on the transfer box is fubared. This is apparently not good since it can lead to excessive widening of the asshole when it all goes terribly wrong.

So! Saturday will now be spent extracting and fixing I think. Might actually have a go tomorrow or Friday.

Just to add insult to injury... went outside to start the Shogun and it wouldn't even light the ignition lights....

It's gonna be a long week!

Jesus... how bad can things get in one day! Charged up the super booster to start the Shogun... went out there married the magnetic key on the key ring to the ignition isolator.... nothing.... damn thing doesn't work any more. It doesn't let us try to start the car let alone drive the kids to school!

Hi Chris, you have come to the same conclusion that i have come to, that it is bad to have 2 vehicles that you use as transport and spend most of the time trying to brake. At some point they will both be out of action at the same time. Thinking i should have one vehicle for off road and a good car for getting about.

It's the only way. If you're going off-road, you've got to have another car to get around in, for when it's broken.

Jai,
I suppose my motor would be illegal also for such events?

No I think your mota will be fine for the trialling as the siloet is the same as standard your bumper mounts in the same place and your suspension is mounted as standard so it should be ok. Jai
