Hi everyone. A little help please from a computer savvy person
I purchased the lead and software package off eBay loaded said
Software and USB to serial .
It tells me to look to see which port has been assigned but having
Followed the directions. No sign of any way to view
Which port to use. Help please.

Start the EAS software, click on agree the licence, it will then say comms failed, click OK it will then open the EAS suite. At the top left hand corner it says EAS Setup, click on that and it will produce a drop down menu, the top line is Comms, put your mouse on that and to the right a list of comms ports will appear, try Comm4 it is often the one that works. Hope that helps.

On Windows XP Plug in your USB to Serial adapter and load the software provided. When the software has loaded click start, settings, control panel, system, device manager. Check down along the various entries till you see Ports (COM & LTP) click Ports and the USB device should appear with the port number next to it in brackets.

That's true but it will not necessarily work until you select the port in the EAS software. Most of the USB to serial adaptors I have seen seem to assign themselves to comm port 4, you then have to select this in the EAS suite, at least that's the way it happened on mine.:D

Mine has assigned to port 4 and to port 8. I have EAS software on the desktop and last time I plugged in the USB adapter it selected 4. I plugged it in to check my information before posting it and it selected port 8. Prolly selects on the basis of availability depending on which USB port you plug into. But there again it is a computer so..............who knows:mad:)
