Looking for someone who can help me by setting up the timing of a 2.5 bmw diesel I would pay for there time post code EX97BX need help please engine all striped ready to do

If you need someone to do it get a local Indy.

If you need information on how ask @wammers
I would if there was a landy place with in 10 mile and I was home but work 6 out of 7 days a week and the nearest kandy place that can do it and not just a dealer is 47 mile away all I seem to get on this forum is smart answers

We're here to offer advice and when we can a select few can go out..

However we aren't here to pander to all demands.

So i'd heed the advice given above..

He did say please, and he did offer to compensate for any "help" given with folding beer tokens.
Its quite probably a job he hasn't done before or got confidence in doing and is just asking for a second pair of eyes/ears/hands that have more experience than he has.
While he might have sounded "pushy" perhaps his skills are elsewhere and not in flowery pleadings for help.
Perhaps someone who does have the know-how (I sure don't) could enter into a dialogue to find out where his hang-up is on it as a DIY operation and offer encouragement?

Indeed. Also no need for flowery , in my book a please/ thank you is plenty ;) :D

I know, I was using poetic license ;-)
I have been guilty of taking the mick out of some poor soul who only came here for help and after I thought about it I felt a bit ashamed of myself.
As a generation we were always told "do as you would be done by", but the rough & tumble of modern life seems to chip away at such things and it is all too easy to turn into a cynic.
Anyway, I hope our OP does get the help and guidance he needs.
Best Wishes.

Have you downloaded RAVE? I just followed the procedure there and it went OK. However, you do need the locking pin (or drill bit the same size), the FIP holding tool and the adapter and dial guage.

You cannot lock the engine correctly with a drill bit.

Drill bit ‘some’ use for holding timing pin in. Not me (yet) - some - like the 90mm guy whom I shall not name :D

OP - smart/tricky replys is to be expected here. Don’t take anything to heart it’s just banter, so long as you don’t bite you will usually get your answer ;)

Im too far away but someone may be closer. If you are interested in doing the job yourself then advise here is best as anywhere in world but free.
If it’s beyond your skills then a local garage that knows Landys is your next best bet as JLR themselves will charge a fortune for the job to moan and tut along the way, trying to sell you an Ejoke at every turn

@Kevin66 .

It maybe an easier fix than you think.

Post some pics of what you have and I trust the diesel gurus will help. Good pics as I seem to remember you said no timing marks? Which I find strange.

Anyway don't lose faith in the site:)
