hey i dont have an airgun so is there any 'tips of th trade' to loosen properly tight wheel nuts!looks like an over zelous mechanic forgot that I may need to undo 'em at somepoint!seen torque convertors but before I spend MORE dosh, any sneaky tips out there technique wise?

If you gotta socket set then you gotta T-bar. Don't you have a wheel nut brace? Have you tried jumping on that? Any kind of extension will do just so it gives you the leverage - something will give.................

dont put a scaffold pole on the land rover wheel brace they can snap like twigs! Get a good socket and a breaker bar that you can really swing on! worth buying one anyway if you have a landy as lots of things will be this tight!

buy yerself one of the old style nut wrenchs as provided with the early series 3s - you'll break the scoffold bar before you snap them

right the way i ended up getting them off, was soaking them in wd40 for 4 days then got them red hot and using a 3/4 inch bar and another peice of scaffolding i bent the last one a half inch bedford bar then chucking cold water on them. repeating this about 4 times then some still wouldnt give up so it was cold chisel and big hammer and smashing them off and even after all of this some of them still pulled the studs out. but no the wheels are off

Yep. Take it to one of the garages & get them to give it some with the rattle gun.
Works for me - but I do have my own rattle gun and very useful it is too:cool:

Problem solved then, but if anyone else is trying it, put an extension on the socket and an axle stand or hd jack under the t-bar. That way all the force goes into the torque, rather than pulling sideways on the nut. This works when the airguns fail. Been there. Done it.
