Maybe his diff-lock doesn't. ;)

Like Griffdowg said, I also go laning a lot on my own, (Billy-no-mates-round-here!!!) but have some experience and know when to get out and walk a route first, and more importantly when to back off and leave it for another day! I've never been stuck when laning ... been close mind .. ;)

'course, I get stuck at Pay 'n plays, but that's 'cos I tend to have a go where normally I wouldn't, knowing someone is close by to recover me .. ;)

I got stuck once on my own, bricked it. On a lane in Wales, the land owner had built a house in the middle of the lane and cut it off! I thought the lane went the other way and ended up on an entrance to his field. We were pretty heavy, with alot of kit on board. slewed the 90 around 180 degrees with the front mounted winch ;) and drove out on a pair of waffles :) genius. only took about 15minutes but i was in panic mode.

G

I go laning on my own too. Never been stuck but caution is the name of the game. Got stuck in my own field around last xmas time went through the frozen crust into very soggy stuff underneath. No winch or owt with me at the time so had to leave it till the next mornin and winch it out.

LOL, 15 minutes, that's not stuck, that's just contemplation and planning time ... ;)

Heheheh, normal driving I only carry a rope and a strop and a couple of shackles (pulling cars out of ditches and floods, which happens round here regularly) but when I'm laning I add a fair bit extra kit, like shovel, extra rope/strops and the Hi-lift Jack plus a set of chains and an extra long lifting loop for manual winching. Only needed it four times, but in my view it's paid for itself. ;)

Literally, 'cos one guy I recovered gave me £40 ... :D

As you know it is not just the vehicle but the abilities of the driver driving it that determines if it will get stuck, and in general more intelligent people drive freelanders.

and in general more intelligent people drive freelanders.

:hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi Now how did you come to that conclusion? the intelligence should have kicked in before buying a gaylander............:doh::doh:

I don’t tend to go out on my own, always go with 2 mates, so if I get stuck there's always someone around to get me out….

but last week while we were out in Salisbury we came across 2 lads that had been stuck in a mud pit for hour and half…..!

Out now thanks to some very nice chaps from the Humber/York/Lincs 4x4 rescue group.

Yes the diff-lock was engaged thanks :) the front end was buried down to the axle leaving the arse end sticking into the air a little, hence not much grip on the rears.

A couple of high lift jacks and lots of waffle-board helped me out :)

Leaving it in the middle of nowhere for two nights wasn't very nice at all.

Cheers.

We were digging out the disco that came to help me on the first night for 6 hours!

How did the disco manage to get stuck? It sounds like they went for the easy recovery rather than using a bit of common sense and putting some graft into getting you out.

Am I right in saying that they pulled up to your landy, put a short strop on it and then tried to pull away?

Getting stuck....in a mud pit on Salisbury????? Not like you've ever done that eh? Not like I had to balance off your reat bumper, clinging to your spare wheel and praying while I hovered over said mud pit to get the rope over your tow hitch.....lol

Stretchie is so proud for helping you get stuck....lol.

We need to do it again soon!

If I'd known you were leaving it two nights I'd have brought a couple of mates, recovered it and claimed salvage ... ;)

Glad you got out thobut .. ;)
