Hi All,

My name is Ken Davison and I live in South West Wales. I purchased a secondhand "2004 Freelander V6 Prem SP A" two previous owners very low mileage. Well pleased with purchase BUT have one small problem.

Previous owner installed an auto cd changer plus a radio sat nav unit and had it removed prior to sale replacing the original. The original unit powers up and all the radio and cd functions appear to be working BUT there is no sound. Also missing is the owners audio system manual but at a guess some sort of adapter for linking in speakers is either not connected or missing a bit.

On and off for the last couple of weeks I have been gently trying to gain access to the rear of the units and once again I am guessing the two small side panels are the answer. I don't want to damage the unit or surround. After much searching I found this forum which looks like the bees knees for Landy owners and was hoping someone could give me a clue on how to gain access to the rear of units.

I know this seems to be a silly type of question but I just want to have a quick look before I start throwing money at what maybe a very simple problem to solve.

Many thanks for any info Ken

I was a quality control / assurance manager in civil engineering for 30 years and after all that abuse I guess I qualify for being thick skinned :D

You have to remove the rear console/armrest assy first then front section of the console.

Remove the four screws and lift out the armrest interior box to reveal screws into floor. Also flip up the square piece below handbrake to access front screws. You may be able to leave the wiring plugged in if you only need to slide the console back a bit.

Front console has screws at sides of gear lever and two hidden under the gold coloured panel above the cd player. To remove this press down at top, back, centre, flex the panel down right between the two face vents and slide out. Can't remember any other fixings but check carefully.

Now that sounds like a cheque book job :D certainly not one for an old fart like me  I am now looking for a car audio repair centre :(

Thanks for info.
