Hi
Known as cj & live on Isle of Skye in Scottish highlands.Had 2 previous land rovers, one a discovery 2 1999 & freelander 1 2002.I have got rid of both of them & so have just bought a freelander 2 GS 2012.Still love land rovers & on sky due to the state of the existing roads need a high floor above the road.
I hope someone can help,in this freelander the radio was classed as a premium unit with a single cd unit by fomoco. What I want to do is to upgrade the radio/cd to a 6cd unit.Have just bought a 6cd head & the radio works well but the cd won’t work & the screen on the radio shows auxiliary & nothing else will work the cd.
Does anyone know if this can be upgraded or not, nobody seems to know.

Thanks for any information that can help

Are you replacing the whole front display unit and the CD player, or just the CD player part?
Hi. Tried using new cd head & existing fascia, but can’t find what fascia panel would be the right one. Have seen single fascia’s with all the same mode numbers etc & they match the existing one I have, but nobody can say if they will be the correct one, to work that 6cd head. All that you get on eBay is check that it is the correct one before buying.

You need the correct fascia to go with the 6 CD drive. The system also needs to be a MOST equipped system, or it won't work. The easiest way to check if you have MOST is to see if there is a subwoofer to the right of the spare wheel. No subwoofer means no MOST, so no sensible way to retrofit the 6 CD drive.
Does the fascia look like this?

Hi nodge68
Thanks for your help. The photo of the fascia is the same & just checked the spare wheel space & there is a speaker in the right hand side, so what is best next step?
If the fascia is the same, then I believe the 6 CD drive should be compatible with the rest of the system. However the system won't be configured to be able to use that drive as a straight swap. The system will need to be told that the drive now has 6 disc slots, so it'll need to be programmed with a suitable piece of software, either JLR SDD or the Gap IID BT are the only 2 systems that I know can program the system changes needed.
