Evening all.
I have read the threads about diff locks being siezed up but my problem is with just the High/Low ratio - I can't engage LOW at all. My diff lock works.
The Disco is a '96 300tdi auto (Jap import so I doubt Low has ever been selected) and I have tried in Park and Neutral, stationary and moving slowly.
I notice on RAVE that there is an inhibitor switch on the transfer 'box - could this be defective, causing the problem?
Any ideas?

No,its prob just the shaft seized in the housing atop the box.Sometimes they free off if you keep badgering them, others need taking apart and beating/regreasing.Its not a difficult job, have a look on Rave to get the deatails.

Cheers Matey, i've had the top off and WD40'd but just how hard can you push the lever before it breaks?

see if this gives ya a clue my diff lock was seized (same lever) so i stood on the step an pulled with all my weight one way then the other for about 5 mins till if freed up an the lever still didn't bend or break:D

give it some wd an give it some wellie:rolleyes: failing brute force i'm sure someone else has a suggestion:rolleyes:

You do know that you have to select neutral on the autobox BEFORE you can select low on the transfer box, don't you??

Cheers
Dave
